The Country Food Trust held an event at Eastnor Castle on Thursday 24th February to talk about their future aims to work with those in Herefordshire and Shropshire, delivering nutritious, game-based meals to people in need in the area.
With the help of Herefordshire’s High Sheriff Jo Hilditch, there was a brilliant turn out of guests from all over the county, including HM Lord Lieutenant, North Herefordshire’s MP, Mayors, Councillors and local charities. The CFT’s new CEO SJ Hunt gave a presentation about the who, what, when and where’s of the charity, and more specifically why.
The morning emphasised to those attending the importance of helping those in food poverty in their local area and how supporting The Country Food Trust can allow them to do that. Hereford Food Bank’s representative Jacquie Alsop spoke at the event and highlighted the need in the area -announcing that they had distributed 100,000 meals last year in Hereford and felt that a minimum of 150,000 would be needed this year.
One of The CFT’s Trustees, Duncan Clark, also spoke and underlined the importance of the role that the Charity’s Ambassadors play in the process of getting food into local areas. Jo Hilditch ended the talks on a positive note and announced that she would become The Country Food Trust’s first Ambassador for Herefordshire.
The Country Food Trust were delighted with the feedback that they received from the event and are looking forward to doing more to help those struggling in food poverty in Herefordshire and Shropshire.
