A 76-year-man has been charged with rape following an incident in Gloucester on Saturday.
A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Constabulary said:
“A man has been charged in connection with the sexual assault of an elderly woman in her own home.
“Eric Barton, aged 76 and of Gloucester, has been charged with one count of rape.
“He has been remanded in custody to appear at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Monday 7 March.
“The charge relates to an incident which took place in the Hucclecote area of Gloucester yesterday afternoon, Saturday 5 March.
“Note: we are not including the road name of where the offence took place as that could lead to the elderly and vulnerable victim being identified.”
