Riverside paths in Hereford are underwater once again, with the River Wye continuing to rise in Hereford. The current level at 7am is approximately 4.2 metres, meaning that the majority of riverside paths in the city will be underwater and those walking / cycling to work will need to find an alternative route.
Latest update from the Environment Agency:
“River levels are forecast to rise again due to heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible again into tomorrow, Wednesday, 16/02/22.
“We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads along the River Wye from Hay on Wye to Ross on Wye. Other locations that may be affected include the A438, Byford, Bredwardine and Hereford.
“We expect river levels to rise again at all gauge locations this afternoon and overnight into tomorrow, 16/02/22. Predicted Peaks: Hay-on-Wye 2m-2.5m; Bredwardine 4.5m-5.0m; Belmont 4.5m-5.0m; Hereford 4m-4.5m, Mordiford 4m-4.5m.
“Further rainfall is forecast over the next few days. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated by 9am on 16/02/22, or as the situation changes.”
