Chancellor Rishi Sunak is to hold a news conference at 5pm this evening amid speculation that the government is to announce plans to support households that are struggling to pay rising energy costs.
With Ofgem likely to announce a rise in the energy price cap today, with some reports stating the rise could be as high as 50%, many households in the United Kingdom will be worried about how they are going to be able to afford the increase, with other bills such as council tax rising too.
The government is said to be exploring many options, with Chancellor Rishi Sunak expected to detail them during the news conference later.
