Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service have provided an update this morning on the fire at a derelict building on Eign Street.

A spokesperson for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service told Your Herefordshire:

“Six Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews – three from Hereford and one each from Ewyas Harold, Bromyard and Leominster – plus the aerial ladder platform from Hereford and the drone from Ledbury were called at 18:23 on 23 November to a fire in a derelict building in Eign Street, Hereford.

“The building, over two storeys with a basement, was around 25m by 10m with seats of fire on the ground and first floors. The fire was fought by four firefighters in breathing apparatus and one covering jet with the incident sectorised.

Police also attended and there were no casualties. The incident was marked as pending closure at 23:47 with a  further reinspection carried out at 04:00 using a gas monitor and thermal imaging camera. No hotspots were found and the incident was closed at 07:16.”
