There are increasing calls for people in two areas of Hereford to get their COVID-19 vaccines, after data showed that Hereford Central (City Centre area, Kingsway and Edgar Street) and Hereford South West (Newton Farm and Hunderton) are lagging well behind the national average for vaccine uptake.
Across the UK, 89.1% of adults have received their first COVID-19 dose, with 75.3% now having received both doses. In Herefordshire, the numbers are slightly lower, with 86.9% of adults having received a first dose and 74.8% of adults having received both doses.
However, what is concerning, is that take up in Hereford Central and Hereford South West is far below the national average and the rest of the county.
In Hereford Central, 77.3% of adults have received a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, with just 62.6% of adults having received both doses of a vaccine. In Hereford South West it’s a very similar picture, with 79% of adults receiving a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and just 63.1% of adults receiving both doses.
Residents are reminded that they can attend walk in vaccination centres in Hereford throughout the week. More details can be found at – Grab a jab at our drop-in clinics 9 to 15 August – Herefordshire Council
