Latest data released by NHS England indicates that there has been an increase in the number of patients requiring hospital treatment for COVID-19 in Herefordshire, as well as a rise in the number of patients requiring mechanical ventilation.
NHS England data shows that as of 13th July, four patients were being treated for COVID-19 at hospitals in Herefordshire, this is up from one the previous week. Data also shows that two patients are receiving mechanical ventilation, up from one the previous week.
Overall across England, the number of patients being treated for COVID-19 at hospitals is increasing, with the number of new daily cases of COVID-19 reaching almost 50,000 yesterday, the highest daily increase since the peak of the second wave in January.
Despite these increases, the vast majority of COVID-19 restrictions are set to be lifted in England on Monday, with this able to go ahead thanks to the successful rollout of Coronavirus vaccines. However, many businesses, including supermarkets such as Tesco and Sainsbury’s, are asking customers to continue to wear face coverings, to protect staff and customers with infection rates in the community remaining high.
