Cllr Paul Stevens, the new Mayor of Hereford, reopened the Cider Museum yesterday.

Despite the pretty wet weather, the Mayor’s opening of the museum went to plan. This was Cllr Paul Stevens’ first engagement as the new Mayor! And so appropriate as he has a keen interest in the history of cider in Herefordshire. We were also very lucky to have former Mayor Cllr Kath Hey accompanying him (she opened the Ciderlands banquet in 2019) and our own area representative Cllr Diana Toynbee, who has held her surgery here in previous years.
We had a star line up of cider makers from the Three Counties Cider and Perry Association Committee and Cider Women, and Tom Oliver, Aggers Szostak and conservator Catriona Ward. Staff and volunteers gathered, and the trustees were represented by Fenella Tyler, CEO of the National Association of Cider Makers. All Covid 19 measures were observed. Thanks too to the NFU, to all the contractors who turned things around so we were ready to reopen in time and to the staff and volunteers for getting us here. Particularly Sally Lane, who can now hang up her rubber gloves and not have to keep running all the taps in lockdown again!!! 🤞
