Supermarket giant Morrisons has announced on social media that it will be completely removing plastic carrier bags from its stores.
The announcement said:
We’re completely removing plastic carrier bags from all our stores! That equates to 3,200 tonnes of plastic removed from our stores per year. You can instead buy our reusable paper carrier bags, which can hold up to 16 kg of shopping, plus they’re recyclable, water resistant and tear resistant.
The company, which has stores in Hereford, Ross-on-Wye and Leominster has been focusing for a number of months on getting customers to use their reusable paper carrier bags ahead of this announcement.
