Chief Scientific Officer Chris Whitty has responded to a video that has been shared online which shows a young male confronting him and calling him a liar whilst walking down a street in London.
However, when asked about the incident at yesterday’s COVID-19 briefing, Mr Whitty was keen to move forward and not make a big deal out of the incident. Mr Whitty said, “I didn’t think anything of it, frankly. I was very surprised it was picked up by the media at all as anything of any importance. I’m sure he’ll become a model citizen in due course and hopefully more like Captain Tom, who’s the kind of person who I think much more exemplifies the spirit of the U.K.”
The Evening Standard has since reported that the mother of the young man in the video has apologised to Chris Whitty and that she has confiscated her sons PlayStation as a punishment for his behaviour.
