Herefordshire’s COVID-19 infection rate continues to fall, ahead of a review from the government on the three tier approach to COVID-19 restrictions. Judging by the infection rate for Herefordshire, many would say that the county is on the verge of seeing its restrictions downgraded to Tier 1 (Medium) from Tier 2 (High) this week, however it may not be as simple as that.
Other factors that may keep Herefordshire under Tier 2 restrictions are infection rates in neighbouring counties, especially those in South Wales. Wye Valley NHS Trust Chief Executive Glen Burley has also taken to Twitter to warn that despite Hereford County Hospital having more ICU capacity, the hospital is still ‘over full’ which could indicate that the hospital is still under pressure from the wave of cases that we saw during November.
