Fire crews from across Herefordshire (Hereford, Fownhope, Ledbury, Bromyard and Peterchurch) extinguished a fire at the new student apartment blocks opposite Morrisons in Hereford.
Crews were called shortly before midday to a fire inside a building on the construction site. All workers were evacuated from the site. Fire crews quickly used hose reel jets, breathing apparatus, thermal image cameras, and a drone to tackle the fire which was causing concern due to its close proximity to some cylinders.
West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Mercia Police also attended the incident but there were no reports of any injuries as a result of the fire.
A spokesperson from H&W Fire said earlier that:
“Six firefighters using breathing apparatus are involved in fighting the fire and a thermal imaging camera is also in use.
“Positive ventilation is being used to clear smoke from the building and the fire service drone was also brought into use.”
