Wye Valley NHS Trust has reassured those that are due to give birth that birth partners are allowed to attend scans and the delivery suite, despite conflicting reports that have been made.
Wye Valley NHS Trust responded to claims that birth partners couldn’t attend scans by saying:
âWhile we continue to have infection prevention measures in place for maternity services in line with government guidelines, these are regularly reviewed.
âPartners are now able to attend antenatal scans, and have throughout the pandemic been able to attend the delivery suite throughout their stay.
âVisiting hours are in place for partners or a nominated visitor on the maternity ward.
âOur midwifery teams continue to provide specialist support for women throughout their maternity journey, which includes individualised birth plans, access to pain relief during labour, and support when parents and their baby return home.â
According to NHS England, “NHS guidance was issued on 8 September so that partners and visitors can attend maternity units. This builds on the determined effort throughout the pandemic to ensure partners were able to be present during labour”.
