Professor Elena Rodriguez-Falcon, President and Chief Executive at the New Model Institute for Technology and Engineering (NMITE) has this month been recognised in both national and international awards:
In the 2020 Engineering Talent Awards, Professor Rodriguez-Falcon has been named ‘Executive Leader of The Year 2020’ for her work at NMITE. The Engineering Talent Awards 2020, powered by EqualEngineers and sponsored by the Royal Academy of Engineering, is a new set of awards to celebrate the diversity of the engineering and technology profession. The awards aim to raise the profile of the UK engineering and technology profession and highlight diversity in engineering through showcasing role models to inspire people to consider careers in engineering and technology.
In addition to this, Professor Rodriguez-Falcon, a Mexican national, has also been honoured with an award from the Embassy of Mexico for her leadership and outstanding performance in the United Kingdom. The (socially-distanced) ceremony was held earlier this month at the Mexican Embassy in London where Professor Rodriguez-Falcon was named Distinguished Mexican in the United Kingdom. The event was carried out by the authorities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, and the Embassy of Mexico in the United Kingdom, as well as the Institute of Mexicans Abroad.
Commenting on these awards, NMITE’s President and Chief Executive Professor Elena Rodriguez-Falcon, said “I’m humbled and proud to have been selected to receive these awards on a personal and professional level, both as a Mexican living and working in the UK as well as a woman working in STEM.”
