Two GP surgeries in Herefordshire have been forced to close to patients after staff tested positive for coronavirus.
Five members of staff at the Marches GP practice in Leominster and at the Bodenham surgery have tested positive for COVID-19.
A council spokesperson added: “This is focused in a non-clinical area. Staff affected are currently self-isolating and contacts are being notified. Precautionary testing of all staff is being undertaken. No patients have been identified as having contact with the staff affected.
“The practice has measures in place to help prevent the spread of Covid-19 and ensure the safety of both staff and patients, and has been working closely with Herefordshire Council, Public Health England and the CCG to ensure all necessary steps have been taken.
“Both surgery buildings are currently closed to patients as a precautionary measure, however the practice remains open for phone and video consultations, prescription requests and other queries. Patients are reminded that urgent medical help is available contacting NHS 111, and ringing 999 in an emergency.
“We would like to remind people to wash your hands regularly, use a face covering and keep your distance to help protect yourself and others. If you develop a fever, persistent dry cough, or have a loss or change in your sense of taste or smell, please call 119 to arrange a test.”
