Last week, members of the Your Herefordshire team were alerted to a Facebook post from a desperate mother that was struggling to get anywhere in regards to stopping the horrendous bullying and abuse that her daughter was facing.
Cerys, a young girl from South Wales, has faced continuous bullying and abuse over the past eight months, with the vast majority of it occurring online, via social media platforms such as Snapchat and Instagram. The person(s) behind the abuse, are constantly setting up new accounts to send the awful messages, before deleting them again, causing the police issues in tracking those responsible down.
We’ve spoken to Cerys’s mum, who tells us that since we highlighted the abuse on our Facebook page, in a post that has reached close to 4 million users since the early hours of Thursday, that police have been in contact and are looking into the cyber crimes, but it can take 4-6 weeks to get any information back that may lead them to tracking those responsible.
Since the post, the bullying and abuse appears to have died down a little, with no incidents since Thursday but Cerys’s mum says this has happened before but soon restarted.
We’ll continue to keep you updated as we understand that so many of you would like to hear the conclusion to this story.
