Health Secretary Matt Hancock is set to announce today that people with COVID-19 symptoms will be told to self isolate for ten days, compared to the current seven days.
Prior to today, anyone that showed symptoms of the virus had to self isolate for seven days. Those who have come in close contact with somebody that has tested positive for COVID-19 will still have to remain at home for two weeks.
The move is believed to be part of the governments and scientists plan to keep on top of the virus and to minimise the risk of a second wave of the virus.
A study carried out by Oxford University estimated that 7.1% of the United Kingdom population has already been infected with the virus.
