It’s the question that’s going to be asked across the county of the coming hours, day and weeks. Just how many tickets will Hereford FC get for the FA Trophy Final against Hornchurch at Wembley Stadium on 22nd May?

Official Government Guidance states that from 17th May, “In the largest outdoor seated venues where crowds can spread out, up to 10,000 people will be able to attend (or a quarter-full, whichever is lower).”

Last time Hereford played at Wembley, around 20,000 supporters attended the fixture, something which is highly unlikely to be allowed this time round due to the fact that some COVID-19 restrictions will still be in place.

Based on the 10,000 limit mentioned by government, it would be hoped that clubs would get around 50% of that to pass on to supporters/sponsors/families etc. However on the same day, the FA Vase Final will also take place at Wembley so it’s unknown whether than will impact on the potential number of tickets handed out to Hereford FC and Hornchurch FC.

Another twist could be the potential for the game to be seen as a ‘test event’ for the Euro Championships this summer. Several games, including the final will be held at Wembley Stadium and the government will be keen to ensure that fans attending these fixtures in the summer can do so safely, so could there be the possibility that the capacity could be slightly raised in time for Hereford’s appearance at the National Stadium? Possibly not.

It’s unlikely that the club will know for a few days/possibly even weeks, so sit back and just enjoy the fact that we’ve even got this far for now!
