Tonight sees Westfields Football Club travel to Rugby Town in an FA Cup replay you won’t want to miss. This fixture follows a thrilling 2-2 draw on Saturday where Fields came back from two goals down at the break to earn a second chance thanks to a fantastic second half performance.

Kick off arrived and the game very early opened up, with Rugby town scoring within two minutes with a curled effort into the net. It wasn’t long after that they were awarded a controversial freekick on the edge of the box, very poorly received by the home crowd but very excellently put away by the taker to double the lead. It was 2-0 at half time but Fields were fired up. They come out onto the pitch with an attacking attitude in the second half. Creating an abundance of chances particularly orchestrated through man of the match, Daniel Stoneman and the substitutions of Adam Wakley and Harley Morris kept providing constant pressure on the oppositions defence.

It was new signing, Kyle Cassell who brought his team back into the game after a goal line clearance fell to him on the edge of the box and he finished well. The equaliser came thanks to a beautiful free kick from midfielder Matt Macdonald. it came off the crossbar, hit the ground and bounced into the roof of the net. Fields then went on to have multiple chances to win but failed to put them away.

Westfields tonight are hoping to travel with a full squad but at short notice and with the team bus travelling early this evening, it may not be possible. Saying that, the team has shown great depth in each position on the pitch in their pre season matches; Westfields have rarely named the same starting line-up over recent games, with Phil Glover working to find his strongest team. The side have been in decent form prior to this fixture with an impressive pre season, including a 3-1 win against a Hereford FC eleven and also a 3-1 win against league and local rivals Pegasus. Fields have only played out two competitive fixtures in the new campaign so far, being this tie on Saturday and the other in the league against Malvern Town which also saw them fightback in a 2-2 draw.

Good luck to Westfields tonight who will be representing Herefordshire in the FA Cup.
