Malvern Town went top of the Hellenic League Division One West yesterday after a 3-2 victory over local rivals Hereford Lads Club.

Malvern were by far the better side in the first half, with Matt Turner converting a Harry Clark cross to make it 1-0, before Harry Clark got himself on the scoresheet with a well placed header that beat Steven Bell in the Lads Club goal.

Were Malvern home and dry? Certainly not. Lads Club manager hauled off Olly Price and Adam Hockey at half time and replaced them with James Hancocks and Levi Ellis and it was this pair that got Lads Club going. A goal from Jamie Cuthbertson got Lads Club back into the match, before superb back tracking from James Hancocks saw a long clearance find Levi Ellis one on one with the keeper. From a slightly wide angle, Ellis cut in and curled an effort into the top corner to get Lads Club a well deserved equaliser.

Both sides then pushed for a winner and it was Malvern that managed to grab it. Harry Clark twisting and turning before placing the ball beyond Steven Bell in the Lads Club goal.

A fantastic attendance of 244 were treated to a great football match from two committed sides that will surely be at the top of the table come the end of the season.
