Local Credenhill youth issued with curfew and Criminal Behaviour Order

At Hereford Magistrates Court on 23/03/2022 Sonny GRIFFITHS aged 18 pleaded guilty to assault on an emergency worker (police officer) and a female door supervisor.

The incident occurred during the early hours of 13 February 2022 when GRIFFITHS who was drunk at the time assaulted the door supervisor by punching her in the face after being refused entry to a licensed bar in Commercial Road, Hereford. After being detained he further assaulted a Police Officer by head-butting him.

GRIFFITHS had previous been in court earlier in the year for similar issues in the city centre.

GRIFFITHS was sentenced to a 4 month curfew, directed to undertake 80 hours unpaid work, 20 days rehabilitation work, a 12 month Community Order and a 12 month Criminal Behaviour Order which:

• Prohibited him from entering the cul-de-sac known as Waterside, Credenhill
• Prohibited from entering any licensed premises with an on-licence in Hereford city centre between the hours of 1900hrs (7pm) and 0700hrs (7am) unless accompanied by a family member or the purpose of employment.

Jim Mooney Police Community Harm Officer states ‘Griffiths was drunk at the time of the incident and had no regard to the rights of licensed premises to refuse entry to an individual, he was further violent when detain. Both assaults caused injuries to the door supervisor and the Police Officer. This type of behaviour is totally unacceptable and it is hoped that Griffiths learns the lessons of his violent conduct. The fact he is banned from licensed premises has been shared with the local pub watch scheme – HAND – (Herefordshire Against Night-Time Disorder) who are encouraged to report any breaches by GRIFFITHS.

The need to ban him from Waterside in Credenhill is based on a long history of anti-social behaviour caused by Griffiths towards residents and others who frequent the area. Breaches of either prohibition should be reported to the Police on line (www.westmercia.police.uk) or by calling ‘101’.
