Here at Your Herefordshire, we often get asked about the number of patients that are in hospital with COVID-19 in Herefordshire. As your trusted news service for Herefordshire, we have regular contact with the fantastic communications team at Wye Valley NHS Trust. Please see the latest statement from Wye Valley NHS Trust below:

The following statement is from Wye Valley NHS Trust

NHS England has requested that Trusts do not issue the number of confirmed COVID-19 inpatients for a number of reasons. This includes the fact that numbers change hourly and daily as we test all inpatients on admission and through their hospital stay.

It’s important that all statistics that are published are verified and accurate. WVT reports daily COVID-19 data to NHS England and NHS Improvement, and then verified regional and local statistics are published nationally by the government every day. Data published outside of this process may result in the public receiving incomplete and unverified information.

What we can confirm is that we are caring for a number of confirmed COVID-19 inpatients. The Trust has tried and tested plans in place and our hospital is set up to care for coronavirus patients.  We continue to test all patients being admitted through the hospital for COVID-19 and during their stay.

We would like to thank local residents for following the Governments advice and guidance. It is important that we continue to do this, in particular social distancing and staying at home if you have COVID-19 symptoms to help us all to stay safe and prevent a second wave of coronavirus.
