The Welsh Marches Express Steam Train will pass through Herefordshire twice today, as it travels between Nottingham and Cardiff Central.

The train will pass through at the following times:

Ludlow: 10:37am

Woofferton: 10:42am

Leominster: 10:49am

Moreton-on-Lugg: 10:58am

Hereford: 11:04am

Tram Inn: 11:14am

Pontrilas: 11:20am

On its return, the train will pass through at the following times:

Pontrilas: 4:27pm

Tram Inn: 4:33pm

Hereford: 4:41pm (Departs at 5:26pm)

Moreton-on-Lugg: 5:34pm

Leominster: 5:43pm

Woofferton: 5:50pm

Ludlow: 5:55pm

The Welsh Marches Express will cross the Cheshire Plain before passing through historic Shrewsbury to join the Welsh Marches line and at Church Stretton there are outstanding views of the Long Mynd, known in Victorian times as ‘Little Switzerland’ – continuing along the Marches, the Welsh Marches Express will then pass the magnificent Stokesay Castle and the historic towns of Ludlow and Hereford. Entering South Wales and the county of Monmouthshire there are superb views of the Brecon Beacons as the Black Mountains tower over the train. At Newport the train will cross the River Usk, before joining the Great Western main line to Cardiff for an afternoon break.

Unable to see it today? Don’t worry, the Welsh Marches Express will visit Hereford again on Saturday 5th March.

This time the train will stop in Hereford so that those travelling onboard can visit the city.
