The number of patients being treated with COVID-19 at hospital in Herefordshire remains the same as last week, data released by NHS England has revealed.

Data shows that on 21st September, a total of 17 patients were reported as having COVID-19 at hospitals in Herefordshire (Wye Valley NHS Trust). This is the same number of patients as the previous week when 17 patients were also reported as having COVID-19 at Hereford County Hospital.

However there has been a slight rise in the number of patients requiring mechanical ventilation for COVID-19. Data shows that on 21st September, a total of three patients were reported as requiring mechanical ventilation for COVID-19 at hospitals in Herefordshire (Wye Valley NHS Trust), up from one the previous week.

The numbers remain far lower than in January, when 120 patients were being treated for COVID-19 at hospitals in the county. During the peak in January, Hereford County Hospital had to expand it’s Intensive Care capacity to cope with the influx of patients requiring advanced care as a result of COVID-19 infection.
