Plans for a new supermarket in Hereford have moved to the next stage.

The Food Warehouse by Iceland plans to open at the Salmon Retail Park in Hereford, in the unit previously occupied by Oak Furniture Land.

With planning permission for the store already approved, the company has now submitted a planning application for signage and advertisement at the site.

The latest planning application details:

“Proposed high level sign to front elevation, sign over doors to side elevation, loading bay sign to rear elevation, together with vinyl graphics/manifestation to internal face of windows/doors.”

Up to 25 jobs are expected to be created once the store opens, providing a much needed boost to the jobs market in Herefordshire.

The Food Warehouse is a chain of large supermarkets selling a wide range of groceries, frozen food, dairy products, meat, bread, soft drinks and alcohol.

The nearest Food Warehouse by Iceland is currently located in Gloucester and is popular with local residents. The Gloucester stores opening hours are currently 8am-9pm Monday to Saturday and 11am-5pm every Sunday. There are currently no plans in place to close Iceland’s current store at Eign Gate, with the company hopeful that both can be successful. Iceland currently run a home delivery service from the Eign Gate branch.
