Large numbers of people have been queuing at the COVID-19 testing centre in Hereford this morning.

Queues have been seen with hundreds of people reported to have attended the site for PCR tests today. If these people test positive, they will be required to self-isolate for seven days over the festive period.

Despite cases remaining relatively low in Herefordshire at present, a small number of outbreaks have been reported and there will be concerns that cases will increase rapidly over Christmas and New Year.

Hundreds of people in Herefordshire are likely to be self-isolating on Christmas Day, with over 700 new cases recorded in the past seven days.

Testing centres will remain open over the Christmas and New Year period and members of the public are advised to test regularly at home with lateral flow tests.
