Cyprus and Lithuania have both been added to the United Kingdom’s quarantine list, due to increasing COVID-19 infection rates in both countries.

The Department for Transport said: “There has been a consistent increase in Covid-19 cases per 100,000 of the population in Cyprus over the last two weeks, with a 79% increase in total cases over this time period.

“In Lithuania, new cases per week have increased by 47% over the same time period.”

The Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has also updated its travel advice to advise against all but essential travel to Cyprus and Lithuania.

People who refuse to self-isolate when returning home from these destinations can be fined up to £1,000 in England and Wales.
