A woman aged in her 80s has died following a single vehicle collision in the Forest of Dean earlier today, Tuesday 5 October.

At approximately 4pm there was a collision on the A4136 near Coleford which involved a blue Skodia Fabia.

The two occupants of the vehicle, a man aged in his 90s and a woman aged in her 80s, suffered serious injuries.

Emergency services attended and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol where he remains in a critical condition.

The coroner and next of kin have been informed.

Road closures had been put in place on the A4136 by the Hangerberry New Road junction and these have since been removed.

Investigating officers are now appealing for anyone with dashcam footage or anyone with information to contact police.
