Highways England are set to start work on improving and adapting the A49 north of Hereford from today, with a warning that the work could take up to 24 weeks to complete.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place on a section of the A49 north of Hereford, between the Starting Gate roundabout in Hereford and Lyde.

Work to extend the 30mph speed limit area is also expected to be completed.

Congestion is likely to occur during the day and motorists are advised to leave extra time to complete journeys.
