A murder investigation has been launched after a man was found dead at an address in Gloucester earlier this morning, Friday 1 July.

There has been a large police presence in different parts of the city this afternoon as officers continue to search for the suspect, a white man aged in his 30s.

He is described as being 5ft 11in in height, with dark brown hair that is cropped and thinning. He was last seen wearing a blue and white top and trousers.

Although there is no information to suggest he is a direct threat to others, police are warning members of the public to not approach him and to call police immediately instead.

Officers are in the early stages of an investigation and are working to establish what has taken place.

The National Police Air Service has also been assisting in the ongoing search and anyone with information, or possible sightings of the man described, is asked to come forward.

If the man can be seen at the time of calling dial 999. Anyone with information on possible sightings is asked to call police on 101.

Police had been called to an address in the Barton area shortly after 9am. Emergency services attended and a man aged in his 50s was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Closures are in place on Vauxhall Road and Barton Street while enquiries continue in the area.

The Major Crime Investigation Team is keen to hear from anyone who has any relevant information which could assist.
