Possibly the biggest event in the Kington calender will be held tonight as final preperations are in place for the popular Wheelbarrow Race.

Hundreds of spectators are expected to line the streets to watch competitors, most of which will be in fancy dress, race through the town only stopping to down a drink at each pub.

Anybody who wishes to enter please come to the Kington Primary School for 6pm for judging.

The barrows will race through the town from 7pm. Please note there will be road closures in the from 6pm to 8.30pm.

“Anyone participating in Wheelbarrow Race tomorrow evening, please be in the playground for 6 so that you can register and be judged before the race kicks off. Entry costs £2.50 per person.
Roads will be closed from approximately 18:00 and will re-open at approximately 20:30.

“Stops on route: The Oak, The Swan, The Oxford, The Golf Club (by Gravel Hill), The Tavern, The Football Club (by Kington Court), The Lion Cafe, The Wine Vaults & The Burton.

“M&S Pizza will be on sale in Cloud 9 Car Park. Don’t forget our very own celebritiy, Mr John Huss, is back on the mic for one year only! See you all there – we can’t wait!”
