Previous film ‘Stories from the Hop Yards’ was voted ‘Audience Favourite Film’ at Borderlines and was hugely popular, along with ‘Chewing the Cud’, with screenings at multiple venues from Bromyard to Birmingham!

The prize is two tickets to the premiere of Carousel at Borderlines Film Festival on Monday 11 March 2019 (or an alternative screening of your choice).

More about the Herefordshire Life Through a Lens Project

The ‘Herefordshire Life Through a Lens’ project explores the huge collection of photographs and negatives of Herefordshire photographer Derek Evans, digitising the archive and creating an oral history from Herefordshire people about the memories they evoke. The project is funded through the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and has recently upgraded to a smart and informative new website, featuring more film interviews, available to watch for free, as well as the archived images that are searchable by topic: The full list of event venues and dates is available there.

Working with Herefordshire Libraries and a team of local volunteers, images from the archive are being scanned and are also accessible via the Herefordshire Histories website. Topics include: Hop-picking, Hereford Football Club, the May Fair, Fownhope Heart of Oak celebrations, the Old Livestock Market, Cathedral Close and the Derek Evans Photographic Studio 1950-80s. HARC (Herefordshire Archive and Records Centre) who hold the archive, are also project partners, working with Catcher Media.
