Officers from Bromsgrove who stopped a car after witnessing the driver using his mobile phone found out he tried to insure his vehicle during the traffic stop.
PC Edward Maher of Bromsgrove Patrol C Shift pulled over the man around 2pm on Friday 15 September in the Frankley Hill Lane area of Frankley.
PC Ryan Clarke, who is based in Bromsgrove, said: “While checking documents, the driver attempted to insure his vehicle with day insurance while stopped by police.
“We checked the details and called the relevant insurance companies who confirmed he had tried to take out the policy at the roadside 15 minutes into the 20-minute traffic stop in an attempt to make us believe he was already insured.”
The man was issued with a Traffic Offence Report for using his mobile phone while driving and for having no insurance. His car was then taken away by a police recovery vehicle.
